MEET MEAGEN LEE
The Artist

For as long as I can remember I've always been an artist. I pretty much lived in the art room at Sycamore High School- Class of 1999- finding every reason to get out of my other classes. It was a way for me to escape my insecurities, a place I actually fit in. I have always used it as my emotional release and seeing how my talents put a smile on grieving families' faces fills my heart.

After the closing of a business that I managed, I was lost and looking for a job. I had previously worked in floral design and decided to pick up a few weddings for some close friends. Before I knew it a few turned into three weddings per weekend. After creating these beautiful arrangements I found it becoming very popular to then preserve these arrangements for brides, funerals, proms, etc.

During creating these preservation pieces, I really focused on capturing the emotions behind that significant event- something that has always made me stand out with my designs. I would add corn and beans from a late farmer's field into his wildflower casket spray or hand-make fabric roses for family members to pull and remember the talent and passion of a gifted seamstress.

Unfortunately, when COVID-19 stopped everything including weddings and funerals, cremation was on the rise for families hoping to have celebration once the pandemic was over. This is when I started focusing on my keepsakes and connecting with families and expanding what I offer.
